Last updated May 21, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Scout, a web-intelligence API (“Scout”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account, generating an API key, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
Scout provides programmatic access to web search, content extraction, and research endpoints that return structured data. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
2. Accounts and API keys
You are responsible for safeguarding your API key and for all activity that occurs under it. Do not share your key publicly or embed it in untrusted clients. Notify us promptly at support@usescout.sh of any unauthorised use.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Scout to: violate any law or third-party right; collect or process personal data unlawfully; gather facial-recognition data; infringe intellectual property; circumvent the access controls of any website; resell raw API access; or place undue load on the service. We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate accounts that abuse the service.
4. Third-party content
Scout returns information retrieved from third-party websites. We do not own that content and make no warranty as to its accuracy, completeness, or legality. You are responsible for your use of returned content and for complying with applicable law and the terms of source websites.
5. Fees and billing
Paid plans are billed through Polar, our merchant of record, who handles payment processing, invoicing, and applicable sales tax. Credits are consumed per call as described on our Pricing page. Except as set out in our Refund Policy, fees are non-refundable.
6. Intellectual property
Scout, including its software, documentation, and branding, is owned by us and protected by law. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the API in accordance with these Terms.
7. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will be accurate or complete.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.
9. Termination
You may stop using Scout at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the service in a way that risks harm to us, other users, or third parties.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date; continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
